It makes you think though. Who tf lost to him? He is not charismatic and with his history the amount of dirt you could throw is insane.

While I’m sure at least one of them had something to do with the JFK assassination, but Bucky actually did it (though not of his own free will) and any politician would hold it against at the drop of a hat.

Yeah, why would anyone vote for a NY-based veteran who quite literally helped save the entire planet on multiple occasions after escaping a “Nazi” war encampment and rehabilitating his life after decades of torture by a hostile foreign government.

Have you seen the way politicians treat veterans?

On second thought I think we are getting too political for a non political community.

Literally? Like easiest vote of my life. “Your options are Bucky Barnes or-“ ballot complete thank you bye. It’s not whether or not you’ve faced adversity but how you handled it and he literally made all the right choices. And then I get to rub it in my friends from other states faces that my senator kicked iron man’s ass

For real. Like, there are few characters I’d rather have in office than Bucky.

The public doesn’t actually know that. You are viewing this from an audience perspective. From a citizen perspective, the winter soldier attacked the UN, then it came out he was supposedly framed, was on the run for years from practically every government on the planet, then showed back up in America with a full pardon around the time of Steve Roger’s death shortly after which he helped break out the man who supposedly framed him. See?

I feel like these details are the things that go in the museum. And would be in the publicly available pardon. Also I feel like there was a lack of news about Zemo breaking out in FATWS. There would be like 100 podcasts about buckys life, unfortunately for him, especially if he ran for public office. And he won - the majority of people had to actually vote for him so they must know things that would sway them to his side or at least make them think he’s not a monster

Like; we just watched a third of the country vote for a literal rapist con man because the alternative was a black woman. And you’re telling me that New Yorkers aren’t going to vote for a self-made, Brooklyn-raised war hero who just so happens to be the best friend of the recently “deceased” Captain fucking America?

He did some bad things yes, but he was mind controlled, while aware he helped save the world in WW2 and endgame, with the right team that’s one hell of campaign

his campaign would be strong w the NY native, wwii vet, captain america bestie, and all his efforts post civil war. but the winter soldier thing (depending what state he’s congressman for) i feel like would’ve rlly tanked him because after the german branch of hydra dissolved, he was in the soviet union/russia, which we know american voters are very skeptics of any ties to russia post red scare

Look around you. Fucking look at the world and how people respond to candidates. They won’t give a flying fuck about winter soldier anything. We don’t have to guess what state it is. We know it’s New York. Bucky Barnes has no ties whatsoever to Russia. He was a prisoner of war. PEOPLE LITERALLY JUST ELECTED A RAPIST because they like his hats.

no im aware of the fact that US citizens will vote for literal felons, but realistically depending what party he aligned with and what state he’d be in (you can run for states you have not lived in) the smear campaign of ties to russia would be strong regardless. he could counter with it being prisoner of war which gains him points but this also entirely depends on the campaign of his opponent
