Breaking news: People are making the miles morales casting all about race and skin tone rather than the actor’s ability to act and bring the character to life.(Caleb McLaughlin is the only right answer btw)

People aren’t making it “all about race” Miles’ identity as afro-latino is extremely important to his character. We can’t just erase his latino side. He’s just as much Puerto Rican as he is Black!

Genuine question: Say they do find an Afro Latino actor but he’s just not as “miles” as the black actor or Latino(non Afro) actor that auditioned before or after him; why couldn’t the black actor just learn Spanish if they picked him or the have Latino live in Brooklyn for a few months to pick up on the mannerisms? Would that be authentic or no?

No that would not be “good enough” because actual mixed race representation is important. They can find somebody of that community who “fits” miles to play him as is important to his character and provides a positive portal job opportunity for someone to portray THERE community in something so high profile as a Marvel film.
