Yeah but the difference is 1. John killed an innocent man and 2. He’s still sexist and that’s like his whole character point in thunderbolts. Hes supposed to be the asshole character that no one is supposed to remotely like. He was a shit father, he stole super serum out of selfishness and greed, he’s an asshole
INNOCENT MAN????? HE WAS A TERRORIST?? The dude literally held down Lamar while Karli tried to stab him, and threw a concrete trashcan at Walker when he was trying to run away… IDK about him being “sexist” in thunderbolts I haven’t seen it yet, but at the end of FATWS he literally gives up on getting revenge to save the truckload of people and do the right thing, how tf was he a shit father?? Cause the baby was RIGHT NEXT TO HIM, and he took the serum so he could get the job done
It doesn’t really matter what secondary crime he committed, he committed the original crime of being a TERRORIST yeah he’s meant to be hated but from the clips i’ve seen, dude is a genuine hero, he jumps in front of Bucky to save him, he has a no nonsense policy when it comes to dealing with threats, he may not be a super hero, but he’s a soldier. And I don’t think it was selfish, he wanted to be better so he could do his job better.
“Just” beat in the face with the shield. He still didn’t deserve that. And tbh It's not the murder itself. It's the fact that he tarnished the symbol of Captain America. The public did not have context or know why he did it. But children around the world had to see the new Captain America publicly execute a man literally begging for mercy.
I know I’m not okay with summary executions of suspects without due process because I’ve seen it enough irl on the news involving brown and black people. That scene, in the most simple and visually graphic way possible, Marvels (successful) attempt to parallel American Police Brutality. To call that scene close to accountability it’s literally absurd.
