Racist comic chuds initially lost their minds when Miles Morales was introduced as well and now look where we are, he’s arguably THE face of the Spider-Man brand rn. Sometimes you just gonna ignore these clowns and let them seethe.
no the people mad about iron heart aren't even trying to hide their bigotry, they're just mad that she's a black woman.

Personally as a black woman, I think they need to be called out. If a black character makes you THIS angry then you're not safe for me to be around and that includes in fandom spaces. It's hard to ignore their anger when it's directly involving you and and your culture. Marvel has always been "woke" and bc the fanbase is predominantly white men, they've been forced to put their POC/woman heros in thr background to appease the masses. It's not fair and i'm tired of being denied their stories.

It’s strange for me as well because I guarantee you these guys have no problem with Storm or Blade or Black Panther or any other prominent black superheroes that have been around for decades, but the moment you introduce something new like Sam Wilson cap or Ironheart they flip their shit as if black people becoming superheroes hasn’t always been a thing in comics

and that them being black directly affects their stories and isn't "forced" diversity, they are very picky and choosy when does come force diversity like no one bat an eye when they cast SLJ as Nick Fury even though he's white in the comics! White audiences can't always relate to black stories. Especially black women which is why Ironheart has been getting so much hate and why Sam Wilson did. Storm & Black Panther are the exception, not the norm.

A lot of the time it feels like there’s no rhyme or reason to it. No one gave a shit when Commissioner Gordon was black in The Batman, or when SLJ was cast as nick fury, like you said, and people actively love characters that acknowledge and celebrate their blackness like Ororo and T’Challa, but suddenly you make a spinoff Iron Man character black and people lose their fucking minds. It’s so shallow and lame, they’re just looking for something to be mad at

It's exactly that! It's because Iron Man was their ultimate representation. Any white man could easily find something about his personality or lifestyle that they either related to or aspired to achieve. He was someone they looked up to, and to have the Iron man legacy be passed onto a black woman makes them angry because they lack media literacy to understand her story, since they've been catered too all these years they literally can't comprehend a black woman being a hero.

Plus people love to bring up the comics whenever something like this happens but they are at a disadvantage this time since Ironheart has always been black in the comics.

A lot of the time, this “Marvel’s gone woke!” Criticism actively shows that they don’t understand the things they claim to love. Remember when She Hulk came out and people said that all the feminist critique and feminine stuff in general was out of character for her? Like, have you people ever picked up a fucking She Hulk comic before lmao?

It’s not just that they’re sexist, it’s that they try to scapegoat and hide behind claims of “it didn’t used to be like this!” That are so obviously bullshit to anyone who actually is familiar with the source material. It’d be like someone telling you the X-Men aren’t actually about diversity overcoming bigotry, you’d know they’re frauds immediately.
