In favor of: The MCU isn’t as big of a cultural phenomenon as it used to be. People would crowd theaters to see the newest movie because we knew Infinity War/Endgame was coming. The lack of direction and quality these past few years have deterred people from seeing movies and shows (could blame COVID but also the Jonathan Majors drama). People generally aren’t as excited for these movies like they were 7 years ago (I feel old)
Against: Marvel made efforts to try new things and that should at least be appreciated. Wandavision brought fans back and people were excited for weekly episode releases and sharing theories. Shang Chi was the first Marvel movie I saw since the pandemic and the theater was sold out. No Way Home was on par with Infinity War and Endgame in the box office. They showed all sorts of new characters (whether they followed up is another story), Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four reeled people back in
