I’ve been there (OCD), it sucks so much but it will pass, I’ve found the best thing to do is make plans with close friends, distract yourself, try to remember the basics (deep breaths, relax your shoulders, try to get some exercise, even when it feels impossible) but most importantly the making plans to distract yourself. It will go away eventually but it really sucks in the meantime. Sorry you’re going through this.
Guided meditation and yoga have been a huge support for me. I’ve been using the “Insight Timer” app for meditation, and it’s one of the few free options. There is a premium subscription but there’s still plenty of free content. For yoga, I just follow videos on YouTube. I personally really enjoy “Yoga with Adrienne”
Omg I feel that, at school there’s always people down to hang out, over break I text everyone I can hoping someone writes back. Doomscrolling sucks but it’s tough when you have no other distractions, I try to at least binge watch a tv show or something instead cause it feels like it’s less bad for my brain
I don’t have access to any streaming services which really sucks. I’ve binge watched pretty much every free movie on YouTube in the last couple weeks and I spend a lot of time hoping for notifications which definitely isn’t healthy. So far today I’ve already had two panic attacks without any obvious trigger which just doesn’t make sense.
I didn’t feel like it was helpful at first but if you stick with it, it really starts to make a difference. Studies have shown that just 10-20 minutes per day can help reduce stress and anxiety and improve resilience over time. Consistent meditation changes your brain activity and helps make new connections, which requires practice and takes time (anywhere between 1-8 weeks to notice a difference). I didn’t believe it when I first tried it, but the results that I’ve seen speak for themselves.
