try not to do anything extreme (such as restricting) as it can cause you to binge. I’d suggest trying to add healthy elements rather than try to remove things, and then you’ll naturally shift your diet. like if you add servings of fruit and vegetables, it naturally takes up space in your body that makes you less hungry for the less-nutritional foods. and adding movement to your day, such as light walking or exercising will take the place of more sedentary activities.

also practicing mindfulness and listening to your body! when you ignore your body’s signals (such as by over eating or under eating) they become less noticeable over time. by practicing paying attention to your body signals, you can make them stronger over time. this is good because listening to our bodies helps us give it the things it needs (like listening to the feeling of thirsts keeps us hydrated, or listening to our fullness keeps us adequately fed).

a mindfulness exercise that I do that’s related to food is turning off all electronics (phone, tv) during the meal. this helps me focus on the food and how I feel. then I pay extra close attention to the first couple bites— what does it look like, what’s the texture, temperature, flavor, etc. I only do this for one meal a day or so, as I do like watching tv while I eat lol. but the practice still adds up!!
