Thought I’d ask here too
How come the mood swings go from “I’m so happy and confident” to “I’d be better off dead” within a few hours? And they keep switching multiple times throughout the day. Is that bipolar?

If it’s not bpd it could also be Hormonal changes, PMDD, PTSD, Autism, etc

by the way, this could’ve even been adhd, but it’s typically not bipolar if it’s that quick like someone else said. I have bipolar and my bf has adhd. I cycle emotions quickly because of bpd sometimes but more extremely over periods of time when I’m having bipolar episodes. He has bursts of energy and depression throughout the day because he’s adhd and unmedicated currently. So just another thing to consider along with other possibilities

So if you did have bipolar disorder, that’d be called rapid cycling, and it’s rare. Any switch between a euphoric state and depressive state thats less than a week is rapid cycling, iirc. So, it definitely doesn’t mean you have bipolar. Mood swings like this are usually a sign of something else, like BPD if they’re based around other people, or even good ol’ depression and anxiety.
