Also I hate that “attention seeker” is used as an inherent insult. If someone’s hurting they probably do need attention. Being ignored or neglected is not good for a human being.

Actually, even if someone *is* doing something drastic 'for attention', I never understood how that invalidates it. Like okay, so Katie is consistently sl;tting her wrists for attention? That clearly means she's insanely mentally unwell. Like no okay person would slice into their flesh just for attention lmao, that type of thing

Yeah putting labels on people like that demotes the fact that they’re actually suffering, it’s just they are doing it in the way they know how or learned and sometimes need the help to get better or support rather than being chastised for it
