How do I do therapy like idk I went once an TJEY just told me go online idk how to deal with what I’m feeling or thinking what do I even talk about

what helps is to have a specific goal in mind when you start therapy because that’s what’s gonna direct how things go. are you trying to find coping mechanisms? are you trying to change a certain behavior? are you trying to gain a deeper understanding of your past or interpersonal relationships? figure that out first and be clear about it when you go and then your therapist can direct the conversation from there

is it okay if you have multiple goals? there’s so many things i feel like i have to address like coping with trauma, depression & anxiety, changing behaviors, etc. and i don’t know if that’s too much
