Whether you’re religious or not, I was raised as a Christian. And with this I was raised as a liberal, which means I believe god loves ALL above any religions or sexuality or lifestyle or ANYTHING!!

With everything horrible in the world, how could anyone ever believe that gods priority is to condemn people for surviving and loving another. I think he’s worried about those who are getting bombed, starving, and the children fighting for their LIVES

Your not wrong, God loves all but he doesn’t accept all behaviors, because many are sinful and unholy, and humans by nature are sinful

Being raised as a Christian doesn’t mean your are a Christian either but I do agree God loves all regardless of one’s political beliefs. The Bible, read it, interpret it for yourself, and urge a friend to do so also. God bless

Bounced around a lot, my dad was raised Lutheran and I’m pretty sure my mom was raised Methodist. Most of my belief was taught from the combination of them since we couldn’t find churches around us that were what we aligned with personally

Another good example I once heard is that by nature heterosexual males by nature don’t just wanna have sex with one woman. Our nature makes us wanna have sex with as many women as possible, that’s sinful. So the command and Biblical teaching is to make a commitment to one woman and enjoy sex within the confines of that commitment, that’s marriage.

Honestly that’s the problem I have with religion. They see everything as though every individual has the same “nature” aka drives or impulses. Which just isn’t true. And if you don’t adhere to what they believe, then you are automatically sinful. But I think there should be more nuances between what is a “sin” and what is a disagreement in lifestyles.

Just using what u said as an example. But Who’s to say a married man sleeping with multiple women is a sin BESIDES God. Who knows, maybe his wife has fully agreed to it and is happier that way. I feel as though it would only become sinful if it caused harm or was inherently harmful. Which sex is not. But cheating is.

Like it’s GOD’s job to condemn people and make the final judgements, not every single Christian. I find constantly condemning and judging people sinful and the Christians that do it aren’t true Christians

I am only repeating what my faith says, therefore what the Bible says. I didn’t come up with the rules, God did. God creates the rules because God created the word and mankind. And your right to call many Christians out as hypocrites because many are. The point is to not look at Christian’s as the example but to look at Jesus as the example.

What the Christian faith teaches is at the creation of the world and the creation of mankind human nature was perfect and there was no sin, no evil in the world but mankind still had free will. However mankind abused that free will and disobeyed God. God had only one rule but mankind broke that rule. Therefore evil entered the world and therefore ever human after that by default became sinful because we as humans want to do what feels good to us not what is honorable and holy to God.

I know, I was raised catholic. I know what the church teaches, I just don’t agree with it. The church interprets the word of God to create the rules they teach. And I don’t think all of the interpretations align with the original teaching of Jesus. I took a whole college course on theology and the devil, so I do get the whole free will thing. I just kinda used ur comment as a jumping off point for my lil rant.

Well I am not Catholic so my interpretation might be a little different than what a Catholic believes or might teach. I respect some things about Catholicism but not everything.

Like I think some Christians need to actually read the Bible for themselves instead of just accepting everything their pastor or priest says.

Roman Catholic is definitely more “strict” than other Christians, but they all have the same basic teachings. Personally I find the Franciscan interpretations and Lutheran interpretations to be more align with Jesus than the rest

100% agree. That’s why the denomination I am in believes in the power of scripture. That scripture is the teaching, not what a pastor or priest says. Like we have a saying or thought, if a pastor doesn’t use the word of God then he’s probably not a good pastor.

You should. I will warn you Baptists aren’t perfect by any stretch. And there have been some problems in leadership however that doesn’t take away from what the actual teaching and faith is built upon. All it does is further prove that human beings are flawed.

In the Baptist church each individual church operates semi-autonomously even thought there is a nationwide organization. The national organization is usually reserved for missions.

Adultery is. Tho that word holds a more negative connotation. But religions have always adapted and changed with the times, why can’t a polyamorous person be Christian without their love life being demonized? Plus even the 10 commandments can have different interpretations. Like many people think “honor thy mother and father” means “listen to everything they say and do everything they tell you to”. But a different interpretation is “treat them with respect and dignity”

I’m not gonna go into a whole theological debate like I lowkey want to. But basically my point is that the Bible and other scriptures and writings can be interpreted in many different ways.
