Any tips on how to get started on cleaning my depression apartment? I’m starting to feel better but there’s just so much that it’s overwhelming and I can’t get started :(

Clean what is most unpleasant/the parts that will bring you joy when cleaned. Focus on areas that you use often. Give yourself grace. One step is better than 0. Sending love your way 🫂❤️

I always dust, wash the dishes, & take out the trash first.

Sometimes you need to force yourself by doing something dramatic (like taking everything off the bathroom sink and sorting through it or putting all the clothes on the bed so you have to sort through it to lie down) careful though because if you lose energy halfway through this may cause a bigger mess Another option is go get a big trash bag and start throwing things away. And don’t let yourself hoard things, if you do not have a place to put it away you cannot keep it.

find a corner to start with and just focus on that. don’t even look at the rest of the mess until that corner is clean and then focus on another corner. alternatively, put categories of objects together and then deal with them separately. like make a pile of all the clothing that’s not in your closet, all of the dishes, etc. don’t do too much at once or you’ll get overwhelmed. remember to take breaks

you put in all the tasks u need into the wheel (there’s usually a table on the side) & then spin it to see what to start on, and then remove each one that u complete, so it’s a visual motivator as well as a way to get past the start paralysis
