
Sometimes you need to force yourself by doing something dramatic (like taking everything off the bathroom sink and sorting through it or putting all the clothes on the bed so you have to sort through it to lie down) careful though because if you lose energy halfway through this may cause a bigger mess Another option is go get a big trash bag and start throwing things away. And don’t let yourself hoard things, if you do not have a place to put it away you cannot keep it.
find a corner to start with and just focus on that. don’t even look at the rest of the mess until that corner is clean and then focus on another corner. alternatively, put categories of objects together and then deal with them separately. like make a pile of all the clothing that’s not in your closet, all of the dishes, etc. don’t do too much at once or you’ll get overwhelmed. remember to take breaks
