Do you know if it’s medically approved? I got diagnosed as depression and prescribed SSRI. After a few months I became super manic. It didn’t last long until it changed to deep depressing episode, then diagnosed as bipolar. The psychiatrist and therapist had never admitted that manic was caused by the SSRI… I couldn’t believe and stopped seeing them

I became manic day one on Zoloft and went into depressive psychosis on Prozac it's weird that it took you so long to present bipolar symptoms from Ssri

Wow sorry to hear. Manic on day one is crazy. Because they say it normally takes a few weeks till the effects start kicking in. Did your psychiatrist say anything about it?

She thought it was just anxiety because I get paranoid when I'm manic so she just put me in a different ssri and a stronger anxiety med

I see. So on what point did she diagnose it’s bipolar 2?

After going into psychosis on Prozac- she later thought I had adhd and gave me adderall and I almost cut my skin off because i believed it was fake and I stopped seeing her after that and started seeing a better psychiatrist at my university

That’s rough. So no one approved that SSRI caused bipolar?

It didn't cause bipolar I went through really traumatic events that made my bipolar symptoms come out. The ssris just made it obvious, ssris cause bipolar people to go into mania

Thanks for sharing. I’m still not sure if I was already bipolar before taking the SSRI, or the SSRI made me bipolar. Because I’ve never experienced manic since I stopped taking medication
