We should acknowledge it because even tho ever parent is supposed to do it parenting is one of the hardest if not the hardest job in the world

It is a privilege though and I’ll always be grateful. Of course everyone should have good parents but they don’t and not acknowledging your privilege just makes you an ass, it doesn’t make everyone magically become good parents

I feel like it’s different to be thankful for your parents and acknowledging that as opposed to feeling privileged for having good parents. You’re right, it doesn’t make everyone a good parent, but feeling like we are privileged for getting the bare minimum isn’t the same as being privileged to have money if that makes sense

I guess I see what you mean but the reality is anything that gives you an unearned advantage and a significant amount of people don’t have is a privilege in my mind. Like it should be the bare minimum to not have slurs yelled at you as well, but unfortunately it’s a privilege of being white/ straight/ etc.
