I’ve never been attacked or hurt in any way, and yet for some reason I respond to sudden aggression or loudness, etc. in other people in the same way that I would if I was in any real danger. Why would that be?

I’m the same way and idk why either. I think part of it is from growing up in a toxic household where there never was physical violence but there was a lot of verbal violence.

If there’s been no history of violence, be it domestic, verbal, or otherwise—It could very well just be a natural sensitivity to it and your brain interpreting previous knowledge of how aggressive or loud interactions can end up in danger. I’m not a psychologist, but I’ve got a lot of experience in a similar field—so, please take this with a huge spoon (grain) of salt.
