my best friend’s dad committed suicide yesterday. I found out from his ex a few months ago that at one point, he had planned on ending his life. I’m trying to stay in touch and support him as much as I can but I’m worried somehow I’m not doing enough.

Nothing you can do but be there. Show up and listen.

You doing enough is being there, and doing all that you can. I’ll keep y’all in my prayers

he’s usually an introverted person and doesn’t open up about his emotions much, so I’m worried that he won’t tell me even if he is in a really bad place mentally

One of my childhood best friend’s brother committed suicide in January 2024. She’s also an introvert and doesn’t talk to me about her feelings but me just remembering his birthday & anniversary means so much to her & her mom. Just check in is all that matters ❤️‍🩹

Being there to listen and talk when needed makes such a huge difference

Keep checking in anyway. Just let him know you’re there and that he doesn’t have to be alone

hi i have a lot of experience in being extremely mentally ill yet never opening up to my friends and all i want to say is just let him know that you’ll always support and be there for him. idk his exact reasons for why he doesn’t open up, but you can just let him know that you’re always able to lend an ear, whenever he’s ready.
