i've always struggled with personal hygiene bc of depression so every time i have a dentist appt coming up i spend the week before brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash like never before it's lowkey like cramming for an exam

You gotta start somewhere with physically caring for yourself to make yourself feel worth it. You and your body are deserving of that self care, I promise. You’ll get that confidence and feel more worth it as you consistently take care of yourself. And I’m not talking a full skincare routine and 2 hours in the gym, baby steps. Daily routine of brushing your teeth at night and showering everyday forever. Brush in the morning when you feel like it, floss when you feel like it.

placing personal hygiene products like mouthwash, toothpaste, mini toothbrush, face wipes, right next to your bed could help you slightly go back into a routine; since it’s the first thing you see in the morning perhaps you’ll find it easier to have the motivation to do at least one thing bedside or on days with more spoons, maybe it will you push you to grab it and head to the nearest mirror or your bathroom. at night, you can sit at bed and do the same or if no more spoons.

brushing at night seems to be the hardest part honestly. i've made such a bad habit of just going to sleep as soon as i feel like it

I feel that, skipped a lot of nights when I was at my worst, just falling asleep in bed high most nights. Just make an agreement with yourself to do it in the morning after breakfast if you skip, and if your busy getting up early for work in the morning at least swish some mouthwash around

i find it a lot easier to brush my teeth in the morning since it's always been part of my routine before i leave the house, i'm also very self conscious so that's probably what motivates me a lot more 💀

damn i'm sorry🙁🙁 i've been there as well and it's not fun. i just try to remind myself that they're just doing their job and everyone has dental issues sometimes

also, mouth hygiene is one of the most overlooked because some think it’s just your teeth and gums that get affected but that bacteria can affect everything up to your brain! take a little deep dive- i scared myself enough to at least use mouthwash before i go to sleep during some of my worst times because of the stuff i read

i actually started leaving floss on my desk in my bedroom because i sit there almost every night before bed so it reminds me
