Real smiles start at the cheeks and lower eyelids, sort of dragging the mouth behind them. Your field of vision gets reduced, indicating to others a sense of safety or confidence. Most fake smiles just do the mouth thing leaving the eyes as open as they usually are. You see it a lot in photographs

I learned about this and other body language stuff from some science show when I was a kid. And I would literally do all the stuff to make myself fit in better. Like bro I was teaching my autistic ass how to mask.
