I already know some of you are going to ignore this bc it’s a long post, but I just had to put this out here/ wanted to get this off of my chest. And ofc any helpful advice/tips are gladly welcome (just don’t recommend therapy bc I can’t afford it 😭

You’re definitely not alone in this. It doesn’t necessarily mean there’s something wrong either, it could be something like standalone insomnia. That being said there is no such thing as a “correct” sleep schedule as long as you’re getting enough sleep to stay healthy. If you really feel this is due to depression, then please talk to someone professional.

You know what wild, the opposite happened for me. I’d stay up later and later throughout college and my sleep schedule was so bad. But after I graduated it became more stable. I was definitely more stressed and depressed in college, so depression could be contributing to it.

My roommate had this problem; they were prescribed antidepressants that double as sleep meds by a psychiatrist. I know you said you can’t afford therapy, but with psychiatrists you meet a lot less frequently and often times they will have sliding scale payment or payment plan options. Best of luck 🩷

As someone who’s battled with insomnia, my entire life the only thing I found that can help me is getting violently high at like 8 PM or meditating. Also working out to the end of my day also helps.

i’ve been struggling to sleep since a very traumatic event i went through in the beginning of the summer after graduating. same deal, staying up until 3-4 am bc my mind is racing and i don’t feel good. my sleep hasn’t felt restful in a while either. i’m fortunate enough to be able to get a therapist but ya, all of this to say is that i definitely resonate w this post a lot. hoping it gets better for the both of us, if i learn any tips ill be sharing them fs.

If it’s possible for you to adjust your schedule during the day so your work is later and you can get enough sleep regardless of how late you go to bed that could be helpful until you get your sleep schedule adjusted For actually going to sleep maybe try doing something super boring and difficult like reading a dense book or research paper (but something printed or on a device you can’t play games on so you don’t get distracted) then you may either tire yourself asleep or at least be productive

If you can, drink one of the big celsius drinks and now you have 7 hours before you crash Also not sleeping at all until the weekend and then sleeping forever

Go to bed 1 hour earlier everyday until you get back to your normal sleep schedule and try some melatonin or almonds

I’m either sleeping ALOT or barely at all when I have depressive episodes

Also getting baked is not a healthy coping mechanism, it’s just what works with me so not a recommendation as it can become a crutch leading to a consistent problem

I used to smoke myself to sleep, it was the only thing that worked. It definitely became a problem bc I was going through it too fast. But I got my habits under control and basically just take an edible every night to sleep and curb my chronic nausea. I treat it like melatonin (because I can’t take melatonin)

That’s me. A gummy a night basically. Chronic illnesses and expensive meds that insurance won’t cover enough of so a 5-10mg gummy and I’m out (it doesn’t take much to get me to sleep idk if that amount is just tricking me into thinking I’m abt to sleep or if it’s bc I take it and meditate and try to sleep it works lol
