I’ve had anxiety for 4 years therapy for 3 changed therapists twice. Anxiety is at an all time high. Got recommended to go on SSRI and doctor is gonna give me lexapro. Both me and my parents are scared of its side affects. Any knowledge on it would help!

take this w a grain of salt but lexapro worked very well for me! I was on it for about a year and stayed on the lowest dose. I didn't really experience any side effects aside from gaining weight, which is ultimately why I stopped using it. it worked very well for my anxiety though

lexapro my goat it’s the only med i’ve been on that didn’t give me insane side effects. different for everyone of course, some ppl do have side effects, but i’ve never met anyone who had really bad side effects!!

Ive tried 8 different SSRIs, all of them caused me panic attacks, lightheadedness, and heart palpitations. It was so bad I tried to stick with it for 2 weeks and ended up in the ER 5 times. I stopped it couple weeks ago. I still get heart palpitations sometimes from anxiety, but atleast I dont have panic attacks anymore.

lexapro worked alright for me at the beginning and when i was taking my dosages regularly. after a few years it seemed to stop working as well, mental health fell off, i started to not take care of myself (including taking meds) and then its a vicious cycle from there. basically just remember to take your meds! in the beginning i had insomnia (solved via melatonin), aches and pains, felt a bit stoned. all went away in a few days-week

in case you were concerned, I know it's very common to have sexual side effects too. I didn't have any while on the 5 mg but that could change depending on the person/dose

Was thinking of trying propanolol because im not scared of talking to people or anything like that. Im scared of heart palpitations and fainting. The physical side effects of anxiety scares me.

Do I need to be like monitored when I take SSRI? I generally have been fairly sensitive to medication in general so I worry about taking medication (not anxious but you get the point)

Omg 5 times?! What?! Wow I’m so sorry that is happening. How do you deal with anxiety without them then? Did the SSRI leave any bad long term side affects?

Im barely dealing with the anxiety but the SSRI makes me not functional at all. Im still constantly lightheaded and getting heart palpitations and I think the SSRI made them worse tbh.
