i’ve gotten a small taste of the having friends life and i’m so scared i’m gonna be too clingy so i’m definitely just gonna push them away and act uninterested until nobody talks to me anymore

there’s a guy i know who i sit with in class bc we unintentionally ended up in the same class and i can never tell if im being appropriately nonchalant about talking to him as we leave or if he thinks i hate him or if he thinks im in love with him and he wants space

Unless you’re constantly texting and trying to hang out 24/7 or pushing boundaries, you’re probably fine on the clingy part. Make plans invite your new friends. Chances are they’ll appreciate it and the worst that happens is they say no and are still friends with you. There’s generally quite a few warnings before people just stop being friends and it oftentimes includes some form of them saying why. Until that happens, put the effort in, talk to them, do things with them. You’ve got this.

i’ve also got that autistic inability to make normal eye contact what if he thinks i hate him because im bad at looking at him. what if he thinks im in love with him because im bad at looking at him

If he’s annoyed he can ignore you, if he thinks you’re in love he can address that and ask about it. Most of the time assumptions about these things are just insecurities. If he keeps sitting next to you and talking as you leave class then it sounds like you’ve made a friend
