why do you like it the way it is? imo the bottom layout looks unbalanced and makes the items harder to see which makes the hotbar swapping mechanic less useful

It looks more natural when it’s sitting on the bottom of the shelf. Also how does it make it harder to see when the visibility doesn’t change at all between the two looks?

the visual spacing, so from farther away the items blend into the shelf more than when they have space around them

it does look more natural though i’ll give you that, i just don’t care too much about realism in minecraft

I’m not much of a realism person either, but it’s a shelf. Also typically you won’t be looking at the shelf from far away when your swapping your hotbar
