While fair. I raise you phantoms. Not really a threat early game. Definitely not a threat late game. But always annoying Also a shield only does so much when against 2-3 skeletons (on HC at least)

I mean, what mob is this not true for? Other than baby zombies that is. I dont think skeletons are meant to be as difficult to fight as enderman, i mean minecraft isnt even necessarily meant to be a difficult game.

I played long before there were shields and still often forget to make one, so they’re always a nightmare in my mind 👵

zombies, creepers, spiders, strays, all blocked by shields and all easier to kill without taking damage before getting a shield. Husks at least stun shields but are so slow its a non-issue

Drowned are a bit tougher, but even that is mostly because of numbers and because they are designed to be tougher. Groups of Pillagers can be a little difficult to fight, but not really that much harder than a large group of skeletons, unless we include evokers vindicators or ravagers which are all a completely different tier of enemy
