I just don’t understand how you can force cheap owners to spend, even if they want to spend, which they do. They just get priced out, so what’s the point? As a Pirates fan, we were heavily chasing Shwarber, but even when offering him a better offer, the Phillies turned around and basically out-priced us, and that’s it. The fact is, if you don’t get the stuff big market teams are granted, you are practically throwing a child at a lion and expecting the lion to lose. If you try to buy someone, will just beat you.
