on the other hand Ohtani’s IP won’t be very high by the end of the season, and even if he impresses in ERA, SO, and WHIP down the stretch he will have provided what many pitchers can do for under half a season and that isn’t close to MVP level of valuable to a team. otherwise Kyle leads the league in HR and RBI, being a whole 19 ahead of Shohei. if he keeps it up then at the LEAST Kyle oughta be considered #2 or 3 in voting
If anyone wants to challenge Ohtani it’s gonna be PCA, since he has a legitimate case with a higher WAR, and being a truly elite 5 tool player and a high level defender at a premium defensive position, which is something Shohei can’t say. Schwarber is basically diet Shohei without the pitching, while PCA at least does sometbing different by being centerfield Bobby Witt Jr
