Literally the only sport it happens in. And it makes no sense. Baseball is the sport where the offensive player is least likely to succeed. NFL completion %, or NBA FG% are higher than elite batting averages. You’re not gonna see a defender just give up because a guy is good

Literally called pulling the goalie. They pull they goalie out to have a better chance, but leaving the goal open. Similar to walking someone. Has potential for the other team to point more runs/goals up

There’s a big difference between pulling the goalie when you’re already down, which usually results in an empty net goal anyway, and basically saying you’re scared of a certain player

A goalie letting the puck through results in a goal, a pitcher intentionally walking a batter results in a baserunner. Not comparable
