Dialogue shouldn’t necessarily sound natural. It should service the characters, world or story. The important thing is not making it sound like they’re saying something just for the audience.

I go to a blue collar bar and listen to passing conversations. Real people, especially buzzed blue collar people, have a way of making their words flow cleanly and naturally when they’re not thinking about what they’re saying.

People said the same thing about the dialogue in Pulp fiction too…

i majored in screenwriting and the biggest tip they gave us for writing dialogue is to say it all out loud after you write it so you know where to make adjustments bc things that sound natural in your head don’t always translate when spoken

Look at Quentin Taranto and coen brothers. Some of the most natural dialogue I’ve seen maybe you can get some pointers
