I mean isn’t that one of the most important aspects of his character? That he was a victim of targeted oppression and then he turns around and does the same things done to him because he thinks it’s justified? How can you even write Magneto without holocaust origins, it makes no sense

Correct is, the issue Marvel has been trying to deal with is how he was a victim of the holocaust but also still alive and fighting in the 2020s. Reduced his age during the holocaust, changed his imprisonment to 1945 instead of earlier, added slower aging to his mutant powers, etc.
