it’s the “four movies a year crowd,” not the “four theater trips a year” crowd. lots of great 2026 releases that aren’t getting as much attention as the big 4 are on streaming now. nirvanna the band the show the movie, send help, blue heron, and dead man’s wire are all on streaming. also, i agree that renting new movies digitally is always so expensive, but i do wanna shoutout the movie “camp,” which you can rent on the letterboxd videostore for $6.99, and its well worth it imo!

my local movie theater is surrounded by a significant movie theater desert, so they jack up the prices to shit. I can comfortably afford to go to maybe one movie a month, and I’m gonna play it safe with a “basic movie” rather than take a risk on something I might not like.

i still don’t can’t entirely blame people for missing some of these cause like, life gets busy. i’d be lying if i said i didn’t miss a couple big movies over the years because of balancing work and school

honestly, that’s really valid. I guess I just wish more people had this perspective, offering recommendations instead of starting pointless arguments. But I’m also guilty of starting arguments lol I watched Send Help, but I hadn’t heard of your other recs! I’ll have to check them out
