i disagree bc a movie can primarily be a showcase of actors' performances, sfx, animation, stunts, comedy, imagery.

Disagree bc there are some that work really well with a barebones plot. Comedies in particular tend to not need a strong plot (Airplane is a good example), but there’s also stuff like Ghost in the Shell where the biggest impact it leaves has nothing to do with the plot

maybe coherent but i wouldn't say good. like ace ventura is about jim carreys performance. buster keaton shorts are about his stunts. most david lynch shorts are about imagery. usually have weak/mid plots imo but they're still good.
