I thought the new Superman was fine. Not great but not bad. I really didn’t like Lex Luthor though. No fault to Hoult just thought he was written poorly

I actually thought Lex was awesome. To his genuine hate for Superman and his brilliance and manipulative behavior was pretty spot on for what Luthor should be

A good metric of if you’ve written a good supervillain is “would doctor evil do this” “I will trap Superman in a box with the only person who can weaken him but who is also the person who has every reason to turn against me despite the fact I have the means of killing Superman through my evil clone who has beaten the shit out of him twice but instead of killing him, I let him live because I want to monologue and make him suffer”

I just thought he Monologued too much. Like I get why he’s obsessed and manipulative but show don’t tell us something that works really well and monologuing every 5 seconds just made it annoying

I agree the monologuing was weird, that’s something they definitely can improve on. But other than that I liked him
