I actually think that this movie would be much better if this was an ACTUAL documentary with hidden cameras and everything. I feel like the movie is a little classiest. Like sure kids who are poor do bad stuff like drugs sometimes, I’ve met many people from these types of backgrounds who where kind and friendly but did and do drugs every now and again, but a lot of the actions of the main characters are sadistic and cruel like Telly and Casper who take pleasure in rape and hurting others.
Or maybe that’s the whole point that I’m missing? The whole message of the movie? That the main characters ARE bad people, not because they’re from a poor background, but because they’re surrounded by bad people who are cruel and they’re parents neglect them, it’s supposed to be a warning to parent audience to pay attention to their kids and teach them empathy and compassion?
I’m just tired of people claiming that this movie IS a documentary (when it’s not at all) and glazing it all the time when I just don’t understand the appeal, what IS supposed to be the message that’s taken away by the audience? Because even your average kids in real life who’s poor and neglected by their parents and does drugs and parties aren’t this GENUINELY evil, so what’s the takeaway supposed to be?
