Hi guys I just started watching movies for the first time in pretty much my entire life. So far I have watched Beautiful Mind, Good Will Hunting, iRobot, Devil Wears Prada, The Matrix, Dead Poet Society and loved all these movies. What else should I watch

Soul (2020) is another mentor-based film and was wholly underrated due to the pandemic release. Girl, Interrupted (1999) Howl’s Moving Castle (2004) Kiki’s Delivery Service (1990) A Man Called Otto (2022)

Top Gun (1986), National Treasure (2004), The Incredibles (2004), The Thing (1982), The Princess Bride (1987), and Sing (2016). I have a million more suggestions but idk what you like. These are just generally great movies that can be enjoyed by any movie watcher. The Thing is a horror classic but it’s regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.

Based on what you watched recently, I think you'd love The Truman Show from 1998

I’ve noticed I really enjoy the “mentor themed” movies like Dead Poet Society, Good Will Huntibg, Devil Wears Prada, Remember the Titans plots all center around a mentor I’m drawn to this theme if it helps with reccs

just realized you said you’re not into animated films but I promise if you haven’t experienced Studio Ghibli then you haven’t experienced hand-drawn animation proper imo!! the stories are powerful, anti-war, and nature loving themes with very strong heroines.
