Yeah I’m sorry product placement haters but it’s worked on me, I just realized the only reason I use Barbasol shaving cream is cause i was like “cool the shaving cream from Jurassic Park” one time years ago and I’ve used it since

Real. I finally switched from an electric razor to a traditional razor a couple months ago (don’t know why I used electric for so long, actual terrible shave), and my entire thought process when I was picking out shaving cream was “hey, I like Jurassic Park”.

Hot take, I wish there was more product placement in media so that we could get projects funded easier. Imagine all you need to make your movie you’ve dreamed of is to just have a bunch of products in the background. Compared to taking out a giant loan you are buried in, and your film is now creatively compromised by investors/producers. Plus safer bets on films means more experimentation. Get most of it paid by product placement, and studios would be fine letting it be weird/wacky/unique

Too many product placements like that gets nauseatingly bad. They actually have studies on this and do tests on “how much product placement is too much”. 40-46 product placement is the max before the audience starts to get pissed. So the standard we have right now is the max for pleasure and monetary value

Phone without a case where you can see apple logo. You don’t notice the difference. Case of pepsi in the background of a party scene. You don’t notice it. Even this example is not bad in the slightest. It is a gadget meant to look like an every day object. Makes sense why it looks like an every day object you would recongnize. It then holds dinosaur embryo so seeing the can is shorthand for where the embryo are at and how no one will find them because it just looks like a normal product.

Dude… the study I was mentioned is talking about those types of things. After max 46 people start to notice. When you have ad placement in every scene the brain will start to pick it up, no matter how “subtle”. It sucks but it’s science
