Yeah agreed. I’m tired of the overly dart and gritty DCU. I just want some good old fashioned comic book movies

Nah I hated it. It was way too goofy, Lex was bad, the Superman costume sucked. Gunn literally has no idea what the hell he’s doing. He is even knows he’s cooked since the movie is flopping right now.

My good old fashioned do you mean movies with quips, jokes every 3 minutes, fart jokes, pop songs, pop culture references, and the heavy reliance on the word shit?

And every villains being this super hot and sympathetic anti-hero?

I’m not who commented, but I assume they meant more like the comics. Which definitely means more quips, more campy, brighter colors, and a Superman who isn’t perfect and just trying his best to do good. Where was the over reliance on the word shit?

Comics were never reliant on quips, not until the height of the MCU and comic to film synergy. Comics were a lot more serious in the 70s 80s and 90s, the era that gave us demon in the bottle, the night Gwen Stacy died, Kraven’s Last Hunt, Death in the Family, Death of Superman, and Knightfall. Comic book movies can be more serious and not borderline comedies. Of course you wouldn’t understand since you don’t read comics

Whoever the fuck downvoted me is essentially an immature adult who can’t handle a different opinion from their own and has to act childish about it.

None of you have ethics. I don’t have to like something someone else likes. Why should I be torn down for that? WHY? Are you all really being that naive and ignorant? What if you all felt the same way I did?

For the record, I’m not the one downvoting you. I’m interested to hear your take. I do read comics. Not from the 90s since I’m not that old. But I’ve read a lot of early 2000s comics (mostly DC). And this movie, thematically and tone wise felt way closer to those than marvel and other DC. I’ve also read most of Vertigo which is where I feel like DC got their movie tone from. But it was best served on one-off stories like preacher or sandman

And comics have different tones. You want a comedic CBM then watch Deadpool. Batman and Superman movies shouldn’t be fucking comedies

That’s not what the movie was about. People are just using a real life conflict as exploitation to boost the movie up. Because Gunn had the script done before Israel and Hamas started fighting again AND there was a writers strike going on. So if anything, it’s a Russia Ukraine plot. Not Israel.
