It takes place in a world where most internet users are monkeys and you can change the entire public opinion of someone by telling them off on TV

in theory, any superhero movie should place the audience with some hope given the entire premise of a superhero; however, this movie felt closer to home with what some people felt were direct connections even though this was based off of comic books written a long time ago lol

the “direct connections” part? it was the country being taken over by a dictator aka palestine and israel. granted, i’ve heard people say that the video game The Last of Us is about palestine and israel. people are gonna find political connections where they want because art is inherently political. in 5 years there will be another war and superman will somehow be directly referencing the war that hasn’t even started yet

i understand what you meant by direct connections but i don’t understand finding hope in a fictional character.

ooo!! sorry. idk how to explain this well, but basically with the direct connections to today’s landscape and then superman stopping the atrocities, it gave people hope that because this was on the big screen and a lot of people saw it, that someone might finally step up (like superman). it was pretty obvious who the bad guy was and everyone feels powerless, so it gave hope that it would wake people up to what’s happening and someone would finally stop it (like superman).
