I think they’re a different genre with horror elements. I guess it depends on what someone’s definition of horror is

He has a couple outright horror films and the rest just have nightmarish elements

that’s how i think of it too. it’s a common misconception among many psychological filmmakers. i think of most of his films as dramas/thrillers with mystery/horror tendencies.

I agree 100%. I think the university I attended offered a course on David Lynch films. I would’ve loved to hear some of the conversations in that class.
