I won’t lie, that was the role that introduced me to the sheer 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 that man has. I really didn’t think much of him in Series 8 but good gravy do I love his portrayal now.

Prior to him playing the Doctor the only role I remembered him as (outside of Doctor Who and Torchwood: Children of Earth) was him as Malcolm Tucker in “In The Loop.”

He was so good in Torchwood though. I mean, they managed to make a guy who kills his entire family actually seem sympathetic, and that’s 90% down to how Capaldi played the character. You really buy that he believes that killing his own children is the best option for them. And the reveal that it was ultimately unnecessary so freakin’ brutal.
