I rewatched Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and keep thinking about Cameron’s shirt. Like it’s a Gordie Howe jersey. It’s a wheel with wings on a red background. Michigan is separated from Illinois by a lake. The shirt is the only thing unique about Cameron.

I always thought of it as him being a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian. Why else would someone born and raised in Chicago wear the jersey of their biggest rival?

Cameron wants to be Gordie Howe, supported by his friends, a father and son on the same team. But he’s only a third wheel, spare parts. He’s an extension of the car. Until the car literally flies, and so does Cameron. Why? Because both got too many miles on them, too much life experience.
