obsession was really good. 8/10. bear was absolutely spineless & disgusting. he represented how often regular ass dudes participate in rape culture & keep women voiceless when it's convenient for them

Yk normally I can figure out what movies are about based on how people talk about it but I cannot for this one

Absolutely I believe the same it shows how consent is everything in a relationship and if you don’t have that then you truly are a monster but also the lighting effects were perfect

I think part of him definitely represented that sure but it was def meant to be more broad. I saw it more as a reflection of how patriarchy tries to force women into submissive roles for men. I think it wanted a lot of toxic men to think back on their “crazy ex” and actually consider how much they fed into her “craziness.” Ultimately, the final message is clear
Niki was a victim of the three people’s obsession over HER. All of them obsessed over her for a different reason.

like genuinely it filled me with rage because even after bear got what HEEEEEEE FUCKING WANTED, he couldn't FUCKING handle her and WAS EMOTIONALLY CHEATING ON HER. just cause nikki got there in time and prevented him from actually cheating. and then the FUCKING SCENE, where real nikki wakes up and is BEGGING to get killed, not begging for help, BEGGING TO DIEEEEE AND HE HAS THE AUDACITY TO ACT LIKE THE FUCKING VICTIM LIKE SHUT YOUR FACE YOU DUMB MF I HATE HIM I HATE HIM

has nothing to do with rape culture imo. it’s literally just a hopeless romantic who sought the perfect woman but is blind to the baggage that she was carrying and when he got that perfect girl he realized you can’t change a person to be who you want because you’ll eventually end up destroying the image you had created of them.

I assure you though it is definitely a small percentage of men. I went with all my friends, the theater was filled with men, and every single one of them hated Barron the ENTIRE movie. It def did what it was supposed to, just most people on yikyak are really stupid.

ppl can have multiple interpretations also bro..... she had no control over her body and he proceeded to have sex with someone who couldnt say no. thats RAPE

at that point in the movie he doesn’t know it’s not her. it’s only till after the dinner date that he realizes something is off and stops having sex with her. technically its rape but i’m trying to put this in the perspective of bear as he didn’t fully comprehend what he had done with the willow until then.

also this movie wasnt about the "baggage" nikki was carrying.. her autonomy was ripped away from her. what we saw for 90% of the movie wasn't "her" baggage. it was the Wish. nikki's behavior literally was not her own. that WASN'T HER, it was something in control of her body

yeah you just stated the obvious, i said that baggage shit because it was a large plot reveal at the end of the movie that removed nikki from the pedestal bear had put her on top of. bear is an oblivious and naive guy who doesn’t have social queues to understand the people and their emotions around him. His view of nikki before the wish is someone who has no wrongs and beautiful. but no one is perfect and nikki isn’t in the wrong for hooking up with the other coworker but it ruins his pedestal.

this movie wasn’t just about nikki’s inhumane obsession with bear. It’s bears more obsession with nikki.

How much more clear did you need it to be? What? They all died and Niki is the only one who survived. Shows how Niki is the victim of this situation. Pretty cut and dry.

Yeah the ending didn’t have an “oomph” to it but it made perfect sense instead of leaving it confusing and it ended leaving me very unsettled so it was fine I guess, anything else added would leave a lot more questions
