Definitely not a snyder fan but James gunn is so overrated, he makes enjoyable enough superheroes and gets praised as a top director. Any comic nerd could do what he does its really not that hard superhero movies are like the easiest genre to direct

he’s a good popcorn movie filmmaker who actually prioritizes the emotional core over a movie above all else, which already puts him above most comic book directors. i just don’t think that should be the gold standard for modern filmmaking.

Im op im not baiting, his movies are very enjoyable but i just dont necessarily think that means hes talented i really think anyone could do what he does. I think he struck gold stylistically and now hes just using a formula over and over.

I don’t really respect James gunn because of the way he boasts about himself in interviews, he claims he made the infinity stones, baby groot, and “discovered” actors like Chris pratt. Idk i just take issue with the ego, especially when he is in the easiest movie genre. People can complain all they want about what i said but superhero movies they literally throw you 200mil to write a story thats already made
