OMG my mom and i always talk about that scene when Up is referenced because it also disturbed me so bad as a child and i used to run and hide in our bathroom until it was over 😭😭 i feel seen

That wouldn’t shock me either, but I guess what tripped me up is that how the film was marketed as a goofy comedy, and then you obviously have the opening with his wife dying, but I read the Junior novelization before so I knew she was gonna die, but when they got to that scene I thought it was supposed be funny at first and then he started bleeding and I’m like woah this is kind of graphic for a Pixar movie lol

I think my mom’s grandpa had to be put in a nursing home around the same time as when the movie came out, so it kinda resonates with me in that sense

I don’t know how to explain it I just remember sitting in the theater with my grandpa and then he hits him over the head with the cane everyone laughs initially because we thought it was supposed to be slapstick but then there’s this big gash on his forehead and I’m like man this is kind of graphic for a Pixar movie because I didn’t expect that much blood to be shown lol
