It reminds me a lot of bohemian rhapsody in the way that the music and performances don’t add to the storyline and are just there for the sake of the music/performance. I think Rocketman is the best musical artist “auto-biographical” movie that I’ve seen bc the music is better incorporated (pls let me know if anyone knows any other good ones tho!). The movie is still worth a watch if you’re a micheal jackson fan tho! (which I am, so I still enjoyed it!)
I wanna say I do like rocketman for more reasons than just the music. It doesn’t force a PG-13 rating onto a rated R lifestyle and doesn’t disrespect any of the real life people, at least not the ones that deserve respect. It tells a cohesive story about elton’s LIFE, not just his career. This is really exemplified by the framing device of him being in rehab, also beginning and ending in rehab. Boho and micheal both end and begin on a performance.
