I feel this way for a couple reasons. 1. someone who watches every major American sports league to an extent, the NBA definitely had the most predictable and uninteresting playoffs, even if it has been kind of improving. 2. The NBA falls far short of the NHL, NFL, and MLB in terms of rivalries and divisional intensity. Regular season divisional competition will foster rivalries and more exciting narratives for throughout the regular season

For those who don’t know, the NHL is divided into 2 conferences each with two divisions of 8 teams. The playoff bracket is divided by division, with the winner of each division playing a wild card team, and then second and third place teams in each division playing each other in the first round
