The Mt. Rushmore for overall offensive players IMO (in no particular order) is Lebron, Jordan, Steph, and Jokic. Any disagreement, or is this consencus?

There is no universe where Kobe is a better scorer than MJ

And I’m not talking about pure scoring, I’m talking about overall offense, which is how your presence on the court affects your team’s offense

I don’t care about difficult shot making lmao. A fancy mid range is worth just as many points as a layup. MJ scored at a higher volume on better efficiency. You’re getting way too caught up in the aesthetics of the game and not thinking about what actually is effective offense

As a pure scorer, I’d take MJ, KD, Lebron, Steph, Shaq, and Harden all over Kobe

LeBron is crazy gang I can’t lie he’s definitely the greatest player of all time but over Kobe is crazy and Harden and Curry so high cause they literally changed the game of basketball LeBron definitely the goat but he didn’t change anything nobody can be 6’9 with god given athleticism like his but we can be 6’1 with handles and a crazy 3

Lebron has been a slightly lower volume scorer than Kobe for his career, but on much better efficiency. They’re at least comparable as scorers. As overall offensive players it isn’t close. Lebron is a top 5 playmaker ever, and it would be generous to call Kobe even an above average playmaker.

And keep in mind that Lebron is a way higher volume 3 point shooter than Kobe ever was and still has a higher FG%. If you look at true shooting, Kobe is at 55% for his career, while Lebron is at 59%.

I’m not even a fan of Lebron but he definitely is a better scorer than Kobe. And MJ clears him hard. People put too much emphasis on a player’s “bag” instead of the results they get, i.e. their actual volume and efficiency as a scorer. As an example, no one who knows ball will tell you Carmelo is harder to guard than Shaq. More unpredictable sure, but not harder.

People don’t seem to understand this shit, but doing a triple backflip into a 360 windmill step back tough middy is worth the same amount of points as backing your defender into the paint and putting up a shot from 3 feet out. idgaf how pretty the shot looks, 2 points is 2 points. I care how often you put it in the bucket, and how efficient you are at putting it in the bucket.
