KD over Wilt is perplexing to me. He won no more than Wilt and he had to join the best team in the league to get his two rings. Not to mention KD never dealt with a decade long dynasty standing in his way. By extension I view Jokic and Giannis as close to KD and therefore below Wilt but they both could pass him in the future.
I just give a little more leeway to guys who played in the modern game than guys who played in the 60s. I’m not one of those “everyone who played then was a plumber” guys, but to an extent, if the resumes of the players are comparable, I’m gonna give the edge to the guys who played in a far more talented era of the game.
and also, I think Wilt not making it past the Celtics was more his fault than a testament to how good the Celtics were, given that once he switched up his playstyle to actually play team basketball and not just shoot the ball 40 times a game, he beat them in 5. I’m almost certain Wilt would’ve had more rings if he hadn’t gotten in his own way
