They should make the NBA playoffs a tournament already with eliminated higher seeds having the ability to play for 3rd place

I agree it should go back to 5 games for at least the first round. The play-in tournament provides plenty of advantage for low seeded teams, I think high seeds should be more rewarded for their performance in the regular season by avoiding unnecessary extra games

Na but they wouldn’t make as much money that way. Best of 7 games for every series means more games and more money, that’s all it’s about

baseball has it perfect. 3 games for the 1st round, 5 for the 2nd, and 7 for the conference championship and championship rounds.

I’d argue it also leads to overall diminished viewership. NBA playoff ratings have been on a steady decline, and I attribute a lot of that to people getting bored. There’s no reason that the playoffs for any sport should be spanning across 3 different months
