They were expected to LOSE $50 MILLION dollars last year. The WNBA can’t pay them more because they aren’t even making even for what they are paying them. I don’t know why this concept is so hard to understand. NBA can have a minimum salary much higher because they can actually pay those players a decent wage. Until the WNBA can start making up for those losses. Nothing is going to change

yes, they aren’t. Profit is your revenue minus expenses, and they went into the red by $50 million even though their revenue went up. Idk what’s the truth, but currently the popularity isn’t there like the NBA and the profits that are reported have been negative since the day it started. WNBA players like Angel Reese want to be paid like NBA players when the product is no where near the same.

They don’t wanna be paid “like NBA players” they just want a better revenue share. As it is, their max salary is about an 8% revenue share. The NBA’s is roughly 50%. Even getting it up to a 15% revenue share would be drastically greater for the league, especially considering Unrivaled has lapped the W’s business model in one summer.

They never said they wanted to be paid them same as NBA players lmao. They just want to be paid enough to not have to play overseas in the offseason to afford rent
