I don't think the league's financial structure should be the player's problem since they don't have any equity in it. Idk jack about sports accounting but apparently WNBA salaries are only 9% of total revenue. With the league expanding, the high dollar TV/media deals, attendance at ATHs, it's fair to negotiate a bigger slice I saw Quentin Post makes more per year than the entire Valkyries roster - I think it's pretty understandable why they're negotiating for more compensation lol
the WNBA literally offered a 275% boost in pay and they’re unsatisfied, the WNBA also is like 50 million in debt, I know they’re signing new TV deals which will eventually get WNBA players bigger contracts in the future but for the time being the WNBA is broke and they listened to the players who protested like 2 months ago about pay by offering a 275% boost for the time being but they’re ungrateful and think they deserve more.
they will be in the future but for the time being they aren’t profitable and still listened to the players by offering a 275% boost in pay and the players think it’s not enough, which is more than enough for the time being, in the future the WNBA will be able to afford to pay them more but they’re greedy and think they can make more than they can
Ungrateful is a simple take that just reinforces my original point. The WNBA shouldn't withhold money from the players share of revenues to pay off their debt, it'd be more fair for players to get a higher, fixed % of revenues I imagine the whole point of the union negotiations is to change the system, not just a one time pay raise
