...are you me? last semester i failed 5/6 classes and dropped out of the university i was at to transfer to community college and within this semester i was diagnosed with adhd, put on adhd meds, and got my accommodations set up and i finished the semster with 2 a's, 3 b's, and 100%s on 3 finals 💀 proud of us, friend <3
I genuinely thought I was a failure after that but I realized the general population is functioning in a different way than I am and my accommodations allow me a more equal playing field. Like I do have the capacity and now that my professor’s understand why I do things differently (ei. why I can’t physically be present sometimes) I’m thriving.
It’s different for everyone and it was kind of like a negotiation process of ‘what do you need? Ok, here’s what I can give you.’ I got extended test time, ability to take breaks or eat/drink during class and exams, a separate testing location, and my most important one- flexible attendance.
