Last semester I failed two classes and ended with a 2.2 GPA. This semester I got accommodations halfway through (after my doctor finally remembered the forms) and have never done so well. I almost made Dean’s List!

You literally have single-handedly given me hope. I wasn’t given my accommodations for school, and have honestly considered dropping out because I did so horribly. 😭

2.5 gpa my first year, got accommodations and immediately put up 3.8, 3.3, and this semester is gonna be either 3.8 or 3.7.

I failed a class, is it possible for me to redo it next semester? Or is that not possible..

What kind of accommodations are given? I’m curious as someone seeking potential accommodations.

What’s crazy is that I did my best in a semester by having a roommate, no friends, no job. But now I have friends, no roommate, a job and 15-18 credits and somehow it’s not manageable this semester which is interesting

I genuinely thought I was a failure after that but I realized the general population is functioning in a different way than I am and my accommodations allow me a more equal playing field. Like I do have the capacity and now that my professor’s understand why I do things differently (ei. why I can’t physically be present sometimes) I’m thriving.

Thank you!! I feel so much better, especially because my professors know now that I’m not a bad student.

At my school it’s possible, but I’m not sure. We have a grade forgiveness program where if you retake a course and achieve a higher grade the old one is expunged. Idk what it is at your school tho.

It’s different for everyone and it was kind of like a negotiation process of ‘what do you need? Ok, here’s what I can give you.’ I got extended test time, ability to take breaks or eat/drink during class and exams, a separate testing location, and my most important one- flexible attendance.

At my school flexible attendance just means you discuss with your professors their current policy and how it can be adjusted to allow you to miss classes for disability-related reasons without impacting grades
